Loy Krathong / Thai Food Festival
Loy Krathong is one of the most colorful festivals in Thailand. It began in the Sukhothai period (over 700 years ago) and is still widely celebrated in the twelfth Lunar month (which normally falls in November) on the full moon night. The word “Loy” means “to float” and “Krathong” is a lotus-shaped floater made of banana leaves. The Krathong usually contains a candle, three incense sticks, some flowers and coins.
The history of Loy Krathong Festival is of Brahmin origin. On this occasion we, 1) offer thanks to the Goddess of the river which is our source of life, 2) ask for forgiveness from the Goddess of the river for having used and made the rivers dirty, 3) offer flowers, candles and incense sticks as a tribute to the Holy Footprint of the Buddha, 4) to wash away the previous year’s misfortunes, and 5) to wish for a happy and healthy new year.
To continue the tradition of Loy Krathong Festival, Wat Buddharangsi invites you and your family to join us in the Loy Krathong ceremony and Thai Food festival activities at the temple on Thursday November 23, 2023. The schedule is as follows:

10:00 a.m. Morning chanting, monks and all participants observe the Dhamma and the five percepts, followed by the offering alms to the monks
11:00 a.m. offering of lunch to the monks
11:30 a.m. Stage performance, live music
02:00 p.m. Loy Krathong Ceremony
04:00 p.m. End stage programs
The highlight of this year's festival beside the Loy Krathong ceremony, live Thai and American music, stage performance show and also authentic Thai cuisine & desserts sponsored by members of the temple and local Thai restaurants in the area.
Everyone is invited to join and to take part and share the joy and happiness of the community. Finally, we wish you and your family to have good health, happiness and prosperity on this special occasion the end of the Lunar year.

วันลอยกระทงเป็นวันที่ชาวพุทธ ได้ประกอบพิธีกรรมบูชารอยพระพุทธบาท ที่พระ พุทธองค์ได้ ประทับไว้ที่ริมฝั่งแม่น้ำนัมทานที เพื่อให้พวกเผ่าเหล่านาคา (พญานาค) หรือ ชุมชนผู้อยู่ใกล้สถานที่ แห่งนั้น ได้กราบสักการบูชา เทศกาลนี้แต่เดิมเป็นพิธีทางศาสนาพราหมณ์ ซึ่งประชาชน ต้องการแสดงความขอบคุณ ต่อเจ้าแม่คงคาดังนั้น คืนเดือนเพ็ญ ประชาชน จึงจุดเทียนและธูปพร้อมกัน ตั้งจิตอธิษฐานแล้ว จึงลอยกระทงในแม่น้ำ ลำคลอง หรือแม้แต่สระน้ำเล็กๆ เป็นที่เชื่อกันว่า กระทงนี้จะพาซึ่งบาปและความโชคร้ายทั้งมวลออกไป นอกจากนี้การตั้งจิตอธิษฐานในสิ่งที่ตนปรารถนาในปีใหม่ที่กำลังจะมาถึง
วัดพุทธรังษี จัดงานลอยกระทงวันพฤหัสบดี ที่ ๒๓ พฤศจิกายน ๒๕๖๖ ตั้งแต่เวลา ๑๐.๐๐ น. ถึง ๑๖.๐๐ น. มีดนตรีสด นักร้องรับเชิญมากมาย การแสดงรำไทย อาหารไทยคาว-หวาน จากร้านอาหารไทย และแม่ครัวมากมาย รายได้สุทธิทั้งหมดจาการจัดงานร่วมถวายวัดพุทธรังษี เพื่อสบทบทุนสร้างวัดพุทธรังษีต่อไป
วันอังคาร-พุธ เป็นวันเตรียมจัดสถานที่เวทีการแสดง ตั้งโต๊ะเก้าอี้ เต้นท์เล็กเต้นท์ใหญ่ สำหรับ ขายของ จึงขอเชิญทุกๆท่าน ได้มาช่วยทางวัดจัดเวทีสถานที่เพื่องานจักเป็นไป ด้วยความเรียบร้อย ดังเช่นทุกปีที่ผ่านมา

๑๐.๐๐ น. พระสงฆ์พร้อมสาธุชนทำวัตรเช้าแปลถวายพรพระ , พระสงฆ์ออกรับบิณฑบาต
๑๑.๐๐ น. ถวายภัตตาหารเพลแด่พระสงฆ์
๑๑.๓๐ น. ขายอาหารคาว-หวาน เครื่องดื่ม เริ่มการแสดงบนเวที นักร้องรับเชิญ
๑๔. ๐๐น. พิธีลอยกระทงร่วมกัน
๑๖.๐๐ น. เสร็จสิ้นการแสดงบนเวที
๑๘.๐๐ น. พระสงฆ์พร้อมสาธุชนทำวัตรค่ำแปล เจริญเมตตาภาวนา
จึงขอเชิญทุกๆท่าน ได้มาช่วยกันจัดเวทีสถานที่ ชวนชิมอาหารคาว-หวาน รสอร่อยๆ มากมายหลายอย่าง มาชมการแสดงของดารานักร้อง ประจำเมืองไมอามี่และดารารับเชิญหลายท่าน จะมาขับกล่อมให้ความบันเทิงตลอดงาน ได้ตามวันเวลาสถานที่ดังกล่าวโดยความพร้อมเพรียงกัน
